Talent & Venue Hire …
The Glory can be hired out, or we can come to you!
Recent clients include TimeOut’s 50th birthday party, MTV, Selfridges, Sushi Samba, BUTT magazine, FarFetch.Com, Toyota, Smirnoff and Fantastic Man.
It is possible to hire our venue out in Haggerston for your own party. Recent examples include Cara Delevigne’s birthday party and the wrap party for Matthew Bourne’s Swan Lake.
Or it might be a smaller event like an LGBTQ+ book launch, a post-show drinks or a queer talk. We are open to ideas for smaller mid-week events and we try to accommodate where we can. Get in touch.
Glory Spaces
We’re a 200 year old pub originally called the Victory Inn, over the years we’ve been a rowdy East End boozer The Hobby Horse, a sleepy Reggae boozer The Paradise Inn, and for the last five years East London’s leading gay pub The Glory.
We have fabulous ticketed shows most nights of the week downstairs during the week but anyone can pop in for drinks at the bar! Our cabaret lounge turns into a nightclub at weekends.
We also have a ground floor stage which we use for drag shows, open-mic nights, and during the Spring our contests LIPSYNC1000 and Man Up have their heats there. On Sundays we have a free salon in the bar hosted by Princess Julia with special guests too.
Smokers use our little smoking courtyard out back (no smoking out front thank you!)
During the day we are sometimes used as a queer filming space and we are open as an office, working on The Glory’s external appearances and festival stages. This venue is our HQ but The Glory works on events nationally and internationally.
The Bar
Welcome to our glittering, cosy bar! We like to have ‘makeovers’ and be creative with the décor. We love an inflatable banana or two in summer, and we have a tinsel curtained stage that, as Jonny Woo puts it, “Has been keeping Haggerston house prices down for years”
We also have naughty queer art on the walls by local notable artists and photographers and we have some rare LGBT+ memorabilia so come and have a nose!
We have a beautiful cocktail menu that puts most gay bars to shame, and we have a good sound system too.
Regardless of whether you’ve booked a show feel free to wander in and have a drink. If we are closed for a very special occasion upstairs then it will be listed on our What’s On page.
We open 5pm most days. We don’t reserve tables, but if turn up early there’ll most likely be a free table.
The Club
Welcome to The Glory Hole - our famous cabaret show lounge where many brilliant artists have performed and hosted special evenings.
Browse our What’s On page for shows in this space! Life-drawing also happens down here, drag queen sewing classes, documentary screenings and panel talks. Downstairs has its own bar and can seat 70 people comfortably.
On weekends we become a club down here - with star East London DJS and drag turns, including ‘Trouble’ our regular Friday jaunt, and ‘Glory Lates’ our big end of week cabaret moment at 10.30pm on Saturdays.
