Event

Queer Art Club London and Queer Writers Group are collaborating !!!

We are excited to invite you to join us for this two part creative writing and printmaking workshop. Here we will be exploring and celebrating our queerness through creativity, collaboration writing and print making. Taking inspiration from writers and poets such as Audre Lorde and Franny Choi, artists like Jenny Holzer and organisations such as Black Lodge Press.

Creative Writing with Writer and Founder of Queer Writers Club Farah Zeeshan, @Common Press, Shoreditch.

This session will guide you to write your own queer aphorism – a short piece that expresses a personal truth. First we will explore writing and poetry from queer poets and artists, then engage in writing games and protocols to engage your expression and creativity. We will then practise editing techniques to create your aphorisms, sharing and collaborating as we go. These will go on to inspire the lino prints you make on Sunday at Queer Art Club, with artists and artist facilitator Finn Yvo.

THIS EVENT IS IN THE MAIN BAR

Please note The Glory is a queer venue run by queer people, for queer people and their allies. We operate a zero-tolerance policy towards homophobia, transphobia, racism, misogyny and discrimination of any kind. Be respectful or you will be asked to leave. Strictly no office, hen or stag parties allowed.

ACCESSIBILITY:

The Glory is a very old building with pre-existing accessibility issues and while we’ve strived to make the space user friendly, there is no ‘easy’ wheelchair accessibility to all areas of the venue.

MAIN BAR ACCESSIBILITY:

The main bar is accessible, though the toilets are up a flight of 3 stairs with a handrail. Wheelchairs cannot access the toilets however. There is a local restaurant a few doors down who have an accessible toilet that they are happy for our customers to use.

BASEMENT ACCESSIBILITY:

To access shows in the basement there is a narrow flight of 12 stairs with a handrail.

SEATING:

The main bar has plenty of seats and tables. Ticketed shows are seated unless otherwise stated.
