It’s back….he biggest Drag King battle in the country, MAN UP!
As the queens crash into the mainstream it’s time for the Kings to be the vanguard of London’s queer counter-culture and The Glory is on the hunt for a glorious new leader.
2019 provided superb talent bringing performance art, comedy, song and or course fierce lipsync to our stage, with the winner Louis F.U.C.K. (aka Evie Fehilly) storming it with a controversial political #METOO performance.
We are throwing down the gauntlet once again and have extended the competition to a full 8 week run at The Glory with a grand final at the incredible EartH on Thursday April 9th.
To register your interest, receive full instructions and to book your place in one of our heats please email:
Drag@theglory.co
You will have 4 minutes of stage time to be the King you want to be. the contest is open to all regardless of gender identity but the performance must be rooted in masculinity (as opposed to Lipsync1000 which is a queen contest).
Again the main prize is £1000 for the winner and as always the contest is a great introduction for new talent to both the king scene and bookers from The Glory along with nights across London.
Each week we invite performers, journalists, Man Up Alumni and celebs to judge the contest with your hosts Adam All & Don One presiding over the proceedings.
On your marks, get set, and MAN UP!
Accessibility:
This event is being held in the ground floor bar area. This area of The Glory is accessible to wheelchair users but there are 3 steps up to the bathroom area. There will also be limited seating at the front of the stage for people who need it. Pease arrive early to reserve one of these spaces.
