SEX SHELLS “XL” – TimeOut Review

No Comments Uncategorised

TimeOut came down to see XL, the first major show by musical sketch comedy troupe the Sex Shells. We’re delighted to disco they loved the show as much as we did and awarded 4 Stars in their glowing review. READ THE REVIEW HERE.

A non-stop tirade of jaded pop divas, singing cows and #period drama. Featuring original music – including their amazing new song “Obligatory Selfie” – and four fabulous talents. The show does “Chicago on chems”, “Beauty & The Beast on Grindr”, “Whitney Houston at the self-service checkout” and a cameo from the Northern Aunties of course! In a city brimming with terribly important gay plays Sex Shells offers 90 minutes of anarchistic silliness capped-off with an unavoidable and completely unnecessary Abba medley !

Cleverly critiquing gay culture using a mixture of camp surrealism, musical theatre and satire, the Sex Shells boys continuously compete with each other – whether they’re bitching cats, boastful cigarettes (!) or gay lab rats – there’s always something to prove! XL is X-traordinary and L-arger than life.

We were thrilled to have the show here and to have nurtured this act from their youngest days.

Here’s to the next Sex Shells adventure!

Thanks to everyone who came to see the show.

Have your say
