NSFW Performance Night

So tomorrow sees the launch of NOT SUITABLE FOR WORK, a queer scratch performance night where anything goes, including your sanity. What is scratch? you ask. Scratch is testing out new material in front of a live audience. It’s scary, it’s nerve-wracking, it’s electric, and in this instance it’s EQUEER SPOKEN WORD AND PERFORMANCE ART!

This blog post is our in-house guide to the stable of featured performers, but of course the real stars of the show are YOU. Five minute slots are available to anyone. Got something to say? To show? To perform? Bring it on down!

So let’s meet the cast of this crazy basement circus that we’ve programmed…

(N.B. Our recurring Friday night party THE HOLE is still happening. #NSFW is from 7.30-1o but includes free entry into THE HOLE)

CHARACTER NUMBER 1: TRASHBAG TRISH

Trashbag Trish

Trashbag Trish is a cheap drag queen who always keeps the price-tag on. Catch her ratty weave ragging as she leads you on an Odyssey of queer and gender-fucking spoken word. Setting TK Maxx sirens off since 2013, we can’t wait to get this bitch in our basement.

Jonny Woo Says: Definitely one to watch, for all the wrong reasons, and she looks suspiciously like Pat Cash.

CHARACTER  NUMBER 2: LISA LUXX

Lisa Luxx

Lisa Luxx is the preditor-in-chief of subversive youth culture movement and magazine Prowl House. She’s performed spoken word around London and also the world. She’ll be taking us by storm tomorrow. Is that lipstick in the photo? Henna? Blood? Chilli? We’ll find out tomorrow!

Jonny Woo Says: It’s all about the multi-media with this one. She’s definitely one to watch or she’ll probably nick your phone.

CHARACTER NUMBER 3: TRAVIS ALABANZA

Travis Alabanza

According to our notes Travis Alabanza is a queer person-of-colour poet who is making waves on the London scene. His erotic, political, sensuous verse has excited men, women and those lucky enough to have jumped gender.

Jonny Woo Says: And judging from that photo he loves an Advocat. Love the necklace though.

CHARACTER NUMBER 4: LIV WYNTER

Liv Wynter

Liv Wynter is the final of tomorrow’s quartet (not including of course all the radical open mic entrants, i.e. YOU!) She’s a rap battle verstress, whatever that means – we’ll find out tomorrow night. She slams down misogynistic rappers in her material, and literally with her fists by the looks of it. We can’t wait to hear what she has to say tomorrow night!

Jonny Woo Says: She definitely looks like one to watch, and listen to! (walks off into the smoking area laughing to himself)

So there we have it! We’re even more scared than you now. And we thought drag was radical! #NSFW launches tomorrow in our basement, it’s only £5 and look how much bang you get for your buck from these art-house robots!

There are still five minute open-mic performance slots available, just turn up on the night!

Have your say
